CAI has been funded by Health Research, Incorporated (HRI) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Bureaus of Women, Infant, and Adolescent Health (BWIAH) and Occupational Health and Injury Prevention (BOHIP) as the Statewide Center for Sexual Violence Prevention Training and Technical Assistance.
As the Statewide Center, CAI will be working with six Regional Centers for Sexual Violence Prevention across New York State to help these centers develop cultures of nonviolence in designated high risk target areas and populations in New York State. The Regional Centers are charged with decreasing the occurrence of sexual violence in their communities by implementing evidence-based, or the best available research evidence, community-wide, sexual violence prevention strategies according to general principles of effective prevention strategies.
CAI will be providing training, technical assistance, resources and expertise to the NYSDOH, Regional Centers and key community partners. These activities will result in the development, dissemination, and implementation of effective strategies to reduce the occurrence of sexual violence.
