Doubling youth participation numbers in Year 4, the Development for Youth (DFY) project continues to work to reduce sexual risk behaviors and unplanned pregnancy among New York's teens in foster care settings. This key population is more likely to have sex at a young age, experience an unintended or non-marital birth, and be diagnosed with an STD than their peers not in foster care, making programs like the DFY research program very important.
In partnership with foster care agencies across New York City, CAI and the DFY team will work to implement the 12-session youth program throughout the 2014-2015 project year. The project, which began Year 5 on October 1, is part of a cooperative agreement with the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), Administration for Children and Families.
