Tuition and Location

Target Audience: Health department staff that provide training to local agency staff, managers, site directors, nutritionists that deliver trainings to fellow staff and/or participants, RDs, RNs

CPEU Credits: 19 continuing education credits

Location: CAI Training Center, 505 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10018

Tuition Cost: $395 for the three-day training program

Lodging: A block of rooms has been reserved at the New Yorker Hotel, located at 481 8th Avenue and 34th Street. The rate is $229 per night for single or double occupancy, plus taxes and fees. Please make your reservation directly with the Hotel by calling 212-971-0101. The reservation code is CGCAIT. The deadline to receive this rate is 4/9/2013. Hotel costs are the responsibility of the participants.

Core Staff

Michelle Gerka, BS, is the Vice-President of Family and Community Education at CAI and has been a Senior Trainer for over 20 years. Michelle brings a wealth of experience in managing both public health programs and people. She has designed and implemented numerous training programs, including WIC, and mentored many trainers. Her dynamic training style and critical understanding of adult learning makes her a much sought after trainer, as well as an inspirational leader.

Doris Saintil, MPH, is the Deputy Director of CAI's WIC Training Center and has been a Senior Trainer for almost 10 years. Doris has an in-depth knowledge of the WIC program and has developed and delivered training programs on a wide range of topics to all levels of WIC staff. She brings strong analytical and management skills, programmatic knowledge, training expertise, and a winning personality to all her training programs.

Amanda Brown, MPH, is a Senior Trainer at CAI and has more than fifteen years of experience in the fields of maternal and child health and reproductive health. For the past decade, she has led capacity building activities, including training development/delivery and technical assistance, to provider agencies throughout New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Amanda's areas of expertise include adolescent health, behavior change, breastfeeding, counseling skills, motivational interviewing, and cultural competency. Her captivating training style blends focus, flexibility, and spontaneity with her impressive ability to model effective communication skills.
