Adherence and Leadership for PLWHA Trainings

CAI was contracted in 2005 by UNDP, with support from the Global Fund, to design and deliver two trainings on Adherence in HIV/AIDS for health care personnel and two trainings on Leadership for PLWHA.

The objective of the Adherence trainings was to increase provider capacity to identify factors that influence a client’s level of adherence and to introduce counseling skills and models to improve client adherence, including the Self Care Model; the 9 Steps of Adherence; and the Directly Observed Therapy Model.

The objective of the Leadership for PLWHA trainings was to provide PLWHA with the knowledge and skills to become effective leaders and managers. The participants were trained in leadership skills and concepts, including leadership styles, effective communication techniques, interpersonal and inter-institutional conflict resolution techniques, and working with decision-makers.
